Community-Based Food Programs for Kids

 

You can find us:

  • Stocking satellite food pantries at Sun Prairie Community Schools
  • Distributing hearty snack bags on Fridays during the school year to kids in four low-income communities
  • Distributing Break Bags full of kid-friendly meals and snacks to help families get through breaks during the school year
  • Distributing lunches three days a week during Summer Break in six neighborhoods

Our programs meet kids and families where they are, working to ensure that no child goes hungry in Sun Prairie!

Please note, these have concluded for summer break. Stay tuned for new schedules in the fall, and meanwhile check out our summer lunches below.

Most Fridays during the school year, our food pantry van can be found distributing weekend snack bags to kids directly in their neighborhood. 

Here’s how it works. The pantry van will pull up to designated neighborhoods and distribute snack bags throughout a set time period. Children line up and when they get to the food table can make some choices about their food options, and how many snack bags they need. Volunteers and staff bag everything for them and they can take it home. We will never turn someone in need away. If you have a child in the Sun Prairie School District who could benefit from these snack bags, simply show up and we will get you what you need, no questions asked.

2026 Fall Session Time & Locations TBD

Northside Elementary families, who are not covered by Fun Friday distribution areas, receive Weekend Bags every other Friday during the school year. If your child attends Northside Elementary and you think your family may benefit from this, please reach out to the Northside School Site Coordinator.

Families should connect with each school’s site coordinator to access these school pantries.

Summer Lunches

Summer lunches are distributed at stops in the community on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during Summer Break. 

Each lunch bag contains a drink, sandwich, fruit and/or veggie, side, and dessert. Specific neighborhoods and times are listed below. Kids can look out for our white van in designated neighborhoods to stop by and receive a free sack lunch.
